NetVega is built to be useful without asking who you are. Here's exactly what happens to your data when you run a test.
Who we are
NetVega is a free internet speed test operated by Focus Digital Solutions ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information NetVega uses, why, and the choices you have. If you have a question, contact us at focusdigitalsolutions20@gmail.com.
Information we collect
Speed test data
To measure your connection, your browser downloads and uploads test data to a test server and times the transfers. This needs your browser to connect to that server, which sees your IP address in the normal way any website does.
When a test finishes, we store the result on our server so we can show service statistics and improve accuracy. A stored result contains: download speed, upload speed, latency, jitter, latency under load, the NetVega Score, the test server used, your internet provider, your approximate city, region and country, your device type (desktop, mobile or tablet), the amount of data the test used, and the date and time. It also contains your public IP address.
Provider and location lookup
To show your internet provider and approximate location, your browser asks an IP lookup service for that information. Depending on availability, this may be Cloudflare, ipwho.is, ipapi.co, ipinfo.io or ipify. These services receive your IP address and return your provider and an approximate location at city level. We never ask for or use your precise location.
Information stored in your browser
NetVega remembers your theme, your unit choice (Mbps or MB/s) and your test settings in your browser's local storage. This stays on your device, and you can delete it at any time by clearing your browser data.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested and time) to keep the service secure and working.
NetVega Chrome extension
The NetVega browser extension runs the same speed test from your Chrome toolbar. It contacts Cloudflare's test servers (or netvega.net as a backup), looks up your provider and approximate location through Cloudflare, stores your latest result in Chrome's local storage, and sends the finished result to netvega.net in the same way as a test on our website. It does not read your browsing history, the pages you visit or any other data in your browser.
Test servers
Tests normally run against Cloudflare's global network (speed.cloudflare.com), operated by Cloudflare, Inc. If Cloudflare can't be reached, the test may run against our own server instead. Cloudflare's handling of data is described in its privacy policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Advertising and cookies
NetVega may show advertisements served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
We may also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use NetVega, for example which pages are visited and for how long. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes data as described in Google's privacy policy. You can block it with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
How we use information
- To run the speed test and show your results.
- To produce overall statistics, such as average speeds by provider.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- To show advertising that keeps NetVega free.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your test results to identify you.
How long we keep it
Stored test results are kept for as long as they are useful for statistics, and are deleted periodically. Browser-stored history stays until you clear it.
Your choices and rights
You can use NetVega without creating an account. You can clear your local history at any time, block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of personalised ads as described above. You may ask us to access, correct or delete information we hold about you, including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 where it applies. Write to us at focusdigitalsolutions20@gmail.com and include the approximate date and time of your test so we can find it.
Children
NetVega is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the service changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
